Things to do when you’re bored

I sometimes try to learn other languages by watching foreign TV. Family Feud, QVC, and the nightly news are much more interesting that way!

Here’s a neat site about how to photograph using your digital camera. It’s part of a competition of images of Britain. Quite a nice collection of images… here, too.

Child Types

Filed under: Cartoons, Photography — tootruefunnies @ 11:46 pm

Here’s a cartoon I made out of a wee touch of bitterness for narcissistic parenting. I put in my three-haired character again… and an ice cream sandwich. Any other child type ideas out there?

On an entirely different note, here’s an interesting website describing the day in the life of an aerial photographer. It’s interesting to see that he still uses film.

And two wild ways to interact with photography on flickr… pick a color and they pick images that use that color. Here and here.

How to drive yourself CRAZY

I’d love to be able to incorporate the little character in the center of this in more of my cartoons. She’s a bit of an alter ego.

Just discovered a great photographer. And, if you don’t know already, stumble upon is amazing and a bit addictive. The web is a MUCH more interesting place with it.

Things not to bring to the Opera

Filed under: Cartoons — tootruefunnies @ 12:07 am

Here’s an odd one. It was inspired by a true story… of someone accidentally going to the opera after having been given a free bag of goodies. The problem? The bag was a huge advertisement for personal lubricant.

I met Mr. New York Times Cartoon Editor. He said my cartoons were funny. That was nice of him – but he hadn’t seen this one.

I fell in love with a cartoon contest image of people sitting around a business meeting with parrots on their shoulders. The winning caption: Shut up, Bob, everyone knows your parrot’s a clip-on.

My favorite hairstyles

Filed under: Cartoons — tootruefunnies @ 12:01 am

Here’s a random little collection of drawings. I drew this all in one go, and then found it in my journal a year later, untouched. I think most people’s favorites are holiday medley and zz top and bottom. I also particularly like bed head… which was a play on the saying and the hair gel.

I’m off to the Positive Psychology conference this week to talk about research (on life satisfaction and depression) where Robert Mankoff, the cartoon editor of the New Yorker, will be speaking. I’ve made up a portfolio of my favorite cartoons, which I’m hoping to give him. Oddly enough, he used to be a psych grad student, too.
